| THE CAR |
Daimler is Britains
oldest car company, being the result of an 1888 meeting between
Fredrick Simmas and Gottlieb Daimler. The British Motor Syndicate
set up a workshop for their Daimler Motor Company to make
cars at Foreshill, Coventry in 1896. Since then the marque
has been owned by BSA, Jaguar, BLMC and today, as a dormant
Jaguar brand, Ford.
The Coventry built 1969 Sovereign we have for sale was imported
from South Africa in 1986 and then sold by a Jaguar specialist
in 1988 to a private buyer who proceeded to spend £5,000
restoring the car. It was then sold at auction in 1989 to
a Mr Burke who kept the vehicle and in 1999 proceeded to spend
£10,000 on a full mechanical overhaul.
The car is superb in every respect and comes complete with
large history file, photographic restoration record, original
handbook, various MOT certificates and current V5. |

|
 |
| THE INTERIOR |
| The upholstery is trimmed
in its original grey leather, is in excellent condition throughout
and exudes a lovely patina. The matching grey wool carpeting
is also in first class condition as is the headlining. |
|
 |
|
 |
| THE DASHBOARD |
| The dash is finished
in burr walnut and is in excellent condition with no cracks.
All Smiths dials and instruments are in place and in perfect
working order. A Supersonic period radio has been fitted,
enhancing this very attractive layout. |

 |
|
 |
| THE ENGINE |
| The engine is a six
cylinder of 4235CC producing 245BHP at 5500RPM and a top speed
of 140MPH. We are led to believe that the mileage of 63,500
is correct and, judging by the way that the engine, gearbox
and other mechanical parts perform, we would say that this
is justified. |
