The MG marque was
created in 1923 by Cecil Kimber, the manager of Morris Garages
of Oxford. The modern Midget story starts with the Austin
Healey Sprite, which had always been assembled at Abington.
for 1961BMC decided to restyle the Sprite, but to produce
it in two varieties - The Austin Healey Sprite and the MG
Midget versions of the same angular car. Like the Sprite,
the Midget was tiny, light but brisk and full of character
with a minimal size two seater cabin, responsive handling
and inch-accurate steering.
We have for sale a 1979 1500 model which has just had a
full bare metal respray including the fitting of two new
doors and a new hood. The car is in immaculate condition
throughout and the mileage of 43,000 has been verified as
being genuine by the previous owner.
